John Mayer said he’s waiting on the world to change
but wars seem to want to rage
we’re facing immovable stumps rooted in the earth
but the world has taken us for all that we are worth
what do we do when we’ve run our last race
when we don’t have a spare ace?
Should we stand firm like trees
and bare the sun burning our leaves.
That was the only covering we had
and we ought to be mad.
Our strings have been yanked like a doll’s from its back
but the knowledge of it is lack
thereof, the blind and fearful
lay prostrate and tremble
brainwashed into believing that this is how it will be
if only they lift their heads, look up and see
that this is not for you and surely it’s not for me.
